Vegan Chai Latte Buns

Vegan Chai Latte Buns are a lovely twist on the traditional dish. They are so tasty and exactly the treat that you need!


My dad drinks a lot of chai latte and the company sent him free little sachets of chai latte powder, it was completely free of everything so perfect for my daughter and I. So my dad gave it to us. The company is called Drink Me Chai.


So with the chai latte powder I made this wonderful dessert and 1 other, which will be coming onto the blog soon.

Ingredients:


Dough

4 ½ cups Plain Flour

2 tbsp Baking Powder

1 tsp Salt

1 cup Butter - I use Pure

1 ¼ cup Milk - I use Oat milk but any milk of your choice will work.


Filling

2 tbsp Butter (melted)

1 cup Brown Sugar

1 tbsp Chai Latte (Drink me Chai)


Icing

1 cup Icing Sugar

2 tbsp Butter

1 tsp Vanilla

3 tsp Lemon Juice

2 tbsp Chai Latte (more if needed)


Method


* Preheat the oven to 200C


Dough;


* In a large bowl sift the flour and baking powder.


* Mix in the butter to make breadcrumbs. This is best if you use your fingertips.


* Add the milk to create a dough


* Knead the dough for 7-10 minutes


* Let the dough rest for 15 minutes.


* Roll the dough to roughly 19x14”


Filling;


* Melt the butter and pour over the dough.


* Mix the sugar and chai latte powder together.


* Spread the mix evenly over the butter.


Roll the bun;


* Roll the dough lengthways to make a log.


* Cut the dough into 10-12 pieces. It depends how thick you want the buns to be.


* Bake for 24-48 minutes


* Let cool for 10 minutes.


Icing;


* Mix all the ingredients together


* Pour over the slightly warm buns.


Serve
