Vegan Chinese Donuts

Writer's picture: Marisa's Vegan RecipesMarisa's Vegan Recipes

Who doesn't love donuts? These vegan chinese donuts are the perfect comfort food!

Joss and I are always looking to try new food and cultures and that is how we found this recipe! We were not disappointed!

You wont be disappointed either!

These taste great!

Traditionally chinese donuts don't have the sugar on them like ours do, however we personally think they need the sugar on the coating.

So it's entirely up to you if you put the sugar on the coating or not!

We made 5 large donuts but you can make slightly more if you make them slightly smaller.

I would love to know what you all think of these

I hope you enjoy these as much as we do!

Ingredients

2 Cups Plain Flour

2 tsp Granulated Sugar

1 tbsp Baking Powder

6 tbsp Butter (Chilled in the freezer for 10 minutes) I use Pure but any plantbased butter will work.

¾ Cup Milk I use Oat milk but any plant based milk will work

5-6 Cups Vegetable Oil for frying

Method

* Put your butter in the freezer to chill

* Put your oil in a large pan and boil on a medium heat.

* Sift the flour and baking powder into a large bowl

* Stir in the sugar.

* Use a fork to mix in the butter.

* Knead on a lightly floured surface for 3-5 minutes.

* Using your hands, flatten the dough to ½ inch thick.

* Cut out 5 large circles.

* Place 1 at a time into the oil.

* Fry for 3 minutes and then flip. Make sure both sides are golden brown.

Coat your donuts with sugar if you are choosing to do so.

Serve

Enjoy!
