Are you in need of a little comfort food? We have all been stuck in lockdown for quite a while; we are getting frustrated and bored. So why not give these vegan chocolate doughballs a try! You can't go wrong with these, I mean who doesn't love chocolate!
These are great because they are easy to make, they taste amazing and because they're small it's okay to eat more of them!
This is a great recipe for a dinner party, a movie night or a kids birthday party. It makes 64 doughballs but if you want less you have half the recipe.
You want to eat them while they are hot, this is because the chocolate inside is melted so you want to keep it that way. I have found that if you let them cool down, although having a chunk of chocolate inside tastes amazing, you can remelt the chocolate by putting them in the microwave for 15 seconds.
You can also put these with some chocolate dip to make them even more sickly! I just melted a handful of chocolate and put it in a little dish, super quick and easy!

This is what your dough should look like when you put it in the bowl to rise. As you can see it's still a little sticky but it is mostly a smooth ball.
It's really easy to get to this point, you follow the steps on the recipe and using a fork mix the ingredients together until it starts to form a dough. You then want to knead the dough with your hands to finish the dough off and creat your smooth ball.
I love kneading dough, it's so relaxing and if you have any frustrations that is the perfect time to get it out!

This is what your dough should look like once it has finished rising. It has doubles in size.
I left my dough, to rise, by my back door. We have big double doors, that work like a conservatory so when the sun is out it makes our living room incredibly hot. This makes it perfect to rise dough in the least amount of time possible.

Once your dough has risen you need to knead it, this knocks the air out of it. You then need to form the balls.
First you need to make flat circles. You then place 1-2 tsp of chocolate in the middle and fold the dough up aorund it, then roll it into a ball like these.
I used 2 of Moo Free's large chocolate buttons per ball. You can order these on their website.
You want to be careful not to make the circles to thin before you put the chocolate in. When the ball is rolled up you want it to have an equal amount of rough around it.
If there is thinner dough on one side when the chocolate melts it could come out of the ball.
If this happens don't worry, make your chocolate dipping sauce and they will still taste amazing!

This is what you want to see when you cut into your chocolate dough balls.
How sickly and tempting do these look!
We hope you like this recipe as much as we do!
