These Vegan Date Brownies will make the perfect homemade gift this Valentines day. Dates are a very nutritious addition to these tasty brownies and add a great fudgy texture.
This delicious recipe makes 9 square Vegan Date Brownies. I decorated them with a simple sprinkle of icing sugar. Originally, I tried to make a red drizzle on top but it looked like it was meant for halloween rather than Valentine’s Day. You can also use coloured sprinkles or edible hearts.
The peanut butter adds a natural sweetness to the mix, and if it isn’t enough you can use another ¼ cup of peanut butter rather than the vegan butter.
These brownies are great on any occasion, but with Valentines Day coming up, these are a great idea for a homemade gift for your loved ones and can be decorated however you prefer.
To make these super great for valentines day; you can add red icing and some heart shaped sprinkles. Check out our other valentines day recipes here
You could always make these brownies perfect for halloween; You can use red icing to look like blood.
Dates;
Dates are a fruit which is native to the Middle East. They are also now grown in the Mediterranean, Asia, USA and Mexico.
Dates grow in large clusters from a date palm tree. As they ripen their skin turns brown and it wrinkles as moisture leaves the fruit.
Dates are very nutritious, high in fiber and antioxidants.
Dates may help promote brain health and they make a great naturl sweetner.

Vegan Date Brownies - Makes 9 Squares
Ingredients
¾ Cup Pitted Dates
¼ Cup Water
¼ Cup Peanut Butter - You can use either crunchy or smooth.
¼ Cup Vegan Butter - We use Flora but any plant based butter will work.
5 tbsp Cacao Powder
½ tsp Bicarbonate of Soda
2 tsp Vanilla
2 tsp Apple Cider Vinegar
Method
Preheat your oven to 180c.
In a food processor, pulse the dates with the water until it forms thin diced pieces.
Add the butter, peanut butter, cacao powder, baking soda, vanilla, and vinegar into a mixing bowl with the dates.
Combine until smooth.
Spread the mix into a lined baking tray. Wet the back of a spoon and use that to smooth the mix if it is too sticky.
Bake for 15-20 minutes.
Let cool completely before cutting or decorating.
Serve
Enjoy!
