Sweet and sour is a dish that is commonly made in Asia and has been used in England since the middle ages. This vegan sweet and sour cauliflower is perfect for everyone to enjoy!
It's the perfect comfort food, date night meal or can make a great family dinner.
This recipe serves 2 generously; you can easily double the ingredients to serve more.
This dish is made using cauliflower, bell pepper and pineapple and cooking it in the sweet and sour sauce.
These 3 ingredients are super healthy and tasty!
Cauliflower;
Cauliflowers are full of nutrients, fiber and antioxidants.
They are low in calories, making them helpful for weight loss.
They make a great low carb replacement in your meals.
Bell Peppers;
Bell peppers are packed with vitamins, low in calories.
They are a great source of vitamin A, vitamin C, iron and potassium.
Bell Peppers may help lower risk of visual impairments.
Pineapples;
Pineapples are packed with nutrients and antioxidants.
They contain enzymes that can fight inflammation and disease.
Pineapples may help reduce the risk of cancer, they may ease symptoms of arthritis and speed reocery after surgery or strenuous excersise.
Please do your own research on these three food, there is still so much to find out.
To make this sweet and sour cauliflower;
Dice the cauliflower, pepper and pineapple. Place them in a large frying pan.
Mix all of the sauce ingredients together till the mix is as smooth as possible.
Pour the sauce over your vegetables.
Saute the cauliflower, pepper and pineapple in the sauce for roughly 10 minutes or until the cauliflower is soft enough to eat.
Serve with rice

Sweet & Sour Cauliflower - Serves 2 Generously
Ingredients
1 Medium Cauliflower - Cut into small florets
2 Peppers - Diced I used yellow peppers to match the colour of the dish but you can use any colour pepper.
1 Tin, 227g, Pineapple Pieces - Diced (Save the Juice)
Rice to serve
Sauce;
6 tbsp White Vinegar
6 tbsp Caster Sugar
1 tsp Salt
2 tbsp Tomato Paste
2 tbsp Soy Sauce - Check out our soy free soy sauce recipe here
Pineapple Juice - From 227g tin You can use water instead but I like to use the juice; it adds to the flavour.
1 tsp Sesame Seeds
2 tbsp Cornflour
Method
Place all the sauce ingredients together in a small bowl.
Mix until as smooth as possible
Place the cauliflower, peppers and pineapple pieces into a large frying pan.
Pour the sauce on top.
Saute the vegetables in the sauce for roughly 10 minutes or until the cauliflower is soft enough to eat.
Serve with rice
