Who doesn't love pizza? I am a huge fan and this vegan sweet potato pizza is no different! This sweet potato pizza is a great recipe, it tastes amazing and everyone in the family will love it!
This recipe is so easy to make, it's a great one to make with your kids and I'm sure they will love to put the toppings on themselves!
Having a kids party or sleepover? Why not make a couple of these and let all the kids help put the toppings on, I know when I was growing up I loved making my own pizza, even if that was just putting on the toppings; I still felt like I had made the whole thing myself.
I made a video of this one being made, you can find it on my instagram. It was made on my phone, so not as good a quality as the ones that Katie makes for our youtube channel, however it will help if you want to watch it being made or have any questions, though I am always happy to answer any questions that you have.
I'm so impressed with this recipe, I don't like sweet potato but they are a super food so I'm always trying to find ways of putting them into my food and find ways that I'll like them. With this pizza base, I loved it, I couldn't taste the sweet potato!
This will be a great way of getting your kids to eat their sweet potatoes if, like me, they don't particularly like them.
I haven't put the quantity of the toppings as they are more about preference. I've told you what I put on my pizza but what I like may be different to all of you.
The base is correct measurements though, it makes a perfect and delicious pizza base!
Some of you may know that I have recently started a vegan nutritionist course, because of this I have now been writing the nutrition information for all my recipes, I hope that this information comes in handy for some of you.

Sweet Potato Pizza
Ingredients
Base;
150g Sweet Potatoes
1 tbsp Chia Seeds - You can use flax seeds for this too.
2 ½ tbsp Water
1 Cup Strong White Flour
1 tsp Baking Powder
½ tsp Salt (Optional)
Toppings; (I haven’t added quantity as it’s really about preference with pizza) -
You can really add whatever you for the toppings, the puree is important but the rest is all optional.
Tomato Puree
Sweetcorn
Broccoli
Red Pepper
Mushrooms - You might be able to tell from the picture, or the video on my instagram if you've seen that; I only put mushrooms on half the pizza as I don't like mushrooms but my husband does.
Vegan Cheese - I use Violife but I'm sure any vegan cheese would work.
Method
* Peel and dice the sweet potatoes. Place them in a saucepan of boiling water. Size is not important. I cut the potatoes into small cubes but as long as you can mash them at the end it doesn't matter too much.
* Boil the potatoes for about 20 minutes, or until they are soft enough to mash with a fork.
* While the potatoes are boiling, make a flax egg by adding the chia seeds and water. Let this mix sit until you need it, this gives the water and seeds time to combine properly.
* Sift the flour and baking powder into a small separate bowl.
* Drain the sweet potatoes and place them in a large mixing bowl.
* Preheat the oven 190C
* Mash the potatoes with a fork then add the flax egg to them and mix to combine.
* Add half the flour mix into the sweet potato mix, mix well with a fork.
* Add the rest of the flour and knead with your hands to form a smooth ball.
* Place the dough between two large pieces of baking parchment and roll out to roughly ½" thick
* Remove the top piece of baking parchment and place the bottom one, and the pizza, on a baking tray.
Keep the top layer of parchement, you will need that again.
* Bake for 10 minutes.
* Remove the pizza base from the oven, place the baking parchment back over the top and flip it over. Remove what is now the top piece of parchment.
Top your pizza;
* Spread your tomato puree over the whole of the base.
* Sprinkle your sweetcorn over the base.
* Place the broccoli evenly around the pizza.
* Sprinkle the pepper over the base.
* Add your mushroom
* Sprinkle your cheese over the whole pizza.
Bake;
* Bake for a further 10-12 minutes.
Serve
Enjoy!
