Vegan Apple Chutney


Have you ever had your apples go to waste because they go brown before you get a chance to eat them? With this vegan apple chutney that will never happen again! You can use your ripe apples to make this flavourful and super easy chutney!


You can use any apples that you've got for this. I used granny smith apples when I made mine because that's what I had to use up.


Homemade chutney is the best! It's so easy to make and so flavourful! You know exactly what is in it when you make it yourself, no added preservatives.


This chutney can last in the fridge, in an air tight jar, for 8-10 days.


This recie only takes about 20 minutes to make. You can enjoy it hot or you can let it cool and enjoy it cold.


This recipes makes about 1 cup of apple chutney. You can easily double the recipe to make extra.


You can change the spices in your chutney to suit your tastes if you would like to.


This recipe is perfect for a starter to a romantic dinner, it's a great treat to dunk your crackers and cheese in, it's great for movie night; Perfect for almost all occasions!

To make this apple chutney;


Place the apples and sugar in a large saucepan, on a medium heat, for about 10-12 minutes.


You'll know it's ready for the next step when the sugar has mostly melted.


Add the salt, spices and lemon juice and boil for another 7-8 minutes or until it has thickened to the consistancy you are happy with.


Don't forget to stir it a little to ensure it wont burn.


Let cool and then place in a clean jar.


This can last in the fridge for 8-10 days.

Apple Chutney - Makes 1 Cup


Ingredients


2 Cups Apples - Cored, Peeled and Chopped

½ Cup Caster Sugar - You can also use brown sugar.

½ tsp Chilli Flakes

½ tsp Cumin

½ tsp Cardamom Powder

¼ tsp Ground Cinnamon

½ tsp Salt

2 tbsp Lemon Juice - You can use apple cider vinegar instead.


Method


Place the apples and sugar in a large saucepan.


Place the lid on and boil on a medium heat for roughly 10-12 minutes or until the sugar has melted.


Take the lid off and add the salt, spiced and lemon juice. Let boil for 7-8 minutes or until it has thickened well.


Stir occasionally to stop it from burning.


Let cool completely and then place in a jar in the fridge.


Serve
